PROVIDERS

Hello! I'm Dr. Baird. I have been a Pediatrician for 18 years. I received my Medical Degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and completed my pediatric residency through the OU-Tulsa School of Community Medicine Pediatric Residency Program. I have practiced in Texas and Oklahoma treating patients from newborn through college-age. I have worked in the urgent care and ER as well as the outpatient clinic. I have loved every aspect of my career from cuddling brand new babies to helping adolescents navigate the seasons of change. God has blessed me with an amazing career and the opportunity to open my own clinic, Baird Pediatrics, in 2019. I love my patients and their families and am so lucky to be a part of their health journey!

I live in the Burleson/Joshua area with my husband, 3 kids ages 9, 14 and 17, 2 cats and 1 dog.

Throughout my training and career, I have had a special interest in behavior disorders, especially ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Having been diagnosed with ADHD myself, I understand the unique struggles that patients face with this condition. I hope to help my patients and their parents develop a clearer understanding of what ADHD is and what treatment options exist. My goal is to remind them that there are strengths associated with having ADHD, and there are ways to compensate for certain behaviors with or without medicine. The features of ADHD and how it is treated is unique to each patient and is ever changing throughout different life stages. My hope is to help families to navigate these changes and to feel comfortable with the unique treatment plan for their child.

This clinic focusing on ADHD and Autism is yet one more exciting endeavor that God has allowed me to embrace. I love meeting these kids and learning all about their unique interests and different ways of approaching life. There is never a boring day here!

Leslie Wilson APRN, CPNP-PC, Certified Autism Specialist

Hi! My name is Leslie. I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Autism Specialist. I have been involved in pediatric health care since 2004 and have loved every minute of it! ! worked in pediatrics as a Registered Nurse for over 13 years in the NICU at Cook Children's Medical Center prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner in 2017. As a Nurse Practitioner, I have worked in Neurology and in Primary Care. Serving the pediatric population has always been my passion and I am blessed that the LORD has allowed me to do so for so many years. I joined Baird Pediatrics in January 2022 working only Saturdays and began full-time hours in August
2022.
Autism.. A diagnosis that used to be pretty foreign to me, but now is part of my life. My third child was diagnosed with autism in 2018. I had been a mother to two children already, and a NP for a year at this time, so I knew that my son had unique struggles from very early on. My concerns were quickly dismissed every time I brought them to the attention of his doctor. Finally, after persistence, we received a referral to an autism testing center and we had to wait almost an entire year to get an appointment just to be tested. After his diagnosis, we were able to get the specific therapies that we needed to help him be the best that he can be. It was a stressful time and waiting just added to that stress. After the struggles that we had to get a diagnosis, and the struggles we have that continue, I knew that my heart was being led to diagnose and treat children with autism.
I became a Certified Autism Specialist in 2023 and I have completed training to perform the ADOS 2 evaluation. The ADOS 2 is the gold standard to diagnose autism in children 12 months-18 years of age. ADOS 2 is a play-based evaluation and coupling this along with a parent interview, which includes developmental and social histories, is the best comprehensive
approach to determine if a child has autism.
Being a member of the autism community, I am honored and privileged to be able to help parents get answers they are seeking about their child. I am eager to be able to be an advocate for both parents and their children in their child's healthcare needs.
