COST

Focus Pediatrics is not contracted with insurance companies.  It is strictly a self-pay clinic.  We can provide an insurance document that you may submit to insurance for reimbursement.  Any medications we prescribe will still be covered by your insurance according to your policy.  Operating free of insurance constraints allows us to spend more time treating the patient and less time doing administrative tasks required by insurance companies.  This also allows us to be completely transparent with the cost for our services, as outlined directly below.

The initial ADHD evaluation and treatment visit is given a 1 hour block for scheduling. This visit will include a thorough medical history, behavior history, and input from your child's teachers and parents/guardians. It will also include an explanation of your child's test results, discussion of the different types of treatments, and development of a treatment plan specific to your child's needs. In addition, we will discuss interventions for school and communicate with the school regarding required modifications for the classroom. This includes the completion of any forms required by the school for a 504 plan or IEP.  Also, we are able to provide a form for medication administration at the school if needed.

Follow up visits are required every 3 months while your child is taking a stimulant medication.  If your child is taking a non stimulant or not taking medication then visits will be twice annually.

Focus Pediatrics understands the time constraints on parents of school-aged children, and so we hope to make these follow up visits as convenient for you and your child as possible.  We can tailor these visits to your schedule and family's needs.  You may choose the type of follow up visit that is most convenient for you.  This visit cost also compensates the physician for the extra time required to send a new prescription monthly.  (All stimulant medications must be sent by the physician only and have to be sent as a new prescription each month)  With the medication shortage (which is no fault of the physician or the patient but is an inconvenience to both) the physician is asked to send the medication to different pharmacies depending on what is in stock.

Types of visits allowed for follow up:

In office (requires appointment)- this is your traditional office visit

Virtual visit (requires appointment)- this is through our EMR platform and works like FaceTime or Zoom.

Email/text/patient portal visit (does not require appointment)- this is best for patients that have been stable on their medication for a while and do not require changes or have many questions.  The doctor likes to see a quick video, if possible, of your child just saying 'hi' to accompany these types of visits.

With all visits, we prefer to have a weight and blood pressure for your child.  The weight can be done with a home scale.  The blood pressure can be taken with a home monitor, by school nurse, or by stopping by our office briefly for the staff to obtain.

We try to offer these appointments at times that are convenient for your busy lifestyle and that doesn't require your child to miss any school.  Our goal is to support you as parents as you work hard to provide for your child's ADHD needs.
